Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
MBSR is an 8-week intensive training in mindfulness meditation, based on an ancient healing practice.
Mindfulness practice is ideal for cultivating greater awareness of the unity of mind and body. It also brings to the surface unconscious thoughts, feelings, and behaviors which can undermine emotional, physical, and spiritual health. The mind is known to be a factor in stress and stress-related disorders. Meditation has been proven to positively affect a range of autonomic physiological processes: such as lowering blood pressure and reducing overall arousal and emotional reactivity.
The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program (MBSR) started in the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in 1979 and is now offered in over 200 medical centers, hospitals, and clinics around the world. Also, schools and companies are integrating Mindfulness because of its positive effects on people of all ages and gender and regardless of religion.
The course includes:
- A non-binding pretalk (45 minutes)
- Handouts
- Recorded guided mindfulness exercises (mp3)
- An after talk, about 3 weeks after the last session of the course (45 minutes)
Please note: MBSR is not a ‘cure’ for serious medical conditions and should not be used as a substitute for medical treatment.

the pain is not due to the thing itself,
but to your estimate of it,
and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.”
